Technology and Science Programs

Technology Programs

Our Technology Programs provide youth with the opportunity to advance their skills on the computer and explore creative talents in relation to technology. Our curriculum walks youth through the basics of graphic design, giving them hands on experience creating projects implemented in our Resident Services Programming. Stop Animation, Photography, and Music Production curriculum all engage youth in on-going learning through creative projects.

Science Programs

One enhancement to the After School Program is our Hands-On Science program designed to stimulate an interest in and understanding of science and technology. Youth engage in a wide array of sciences through crafts and hands-on experiments. Ordinary materials are used in experiments, revealing the science behind what they see in their everyday world. Youth learn how to conduct research, record data, and prepare presentations with their findings.

Our science program offers hands-on experience in the areas of biology, chemistry, geology, physics, and computer science.

Archeology Program

Through a partnership with the San Diego Archeological Center, our staff is educated about the science of archeology. This allows us to offer on-site presentations about artifacts and cultures of the past. As youth participate in the Archeological program, they learn that understanding the human past is essential to understanding the present and shaping the future.

Animal Care

Animal care is a year-round enhancement to our After School Program. Our youth residents have the opportunity to learn about animals and their life cycles by taking care of hermit crabs, sea monkeys, butterflies, lizards, frogs, fish and more.
